Break Gender Stereotypes – Give Talent a Chance

Objective

Break gender stereotypes, give talent a chance aimed to help private sector companies to better understand the benefits of combating gender stereotypes, and improve their ability to act.

For this purpose, the International Training Centre of the ILO, in partnership with EUROCHAMBRES, implemented an awareness-raising campaign involving in collaboration business organisations and Chambers of Commerce of 15 EU countries: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Spain

Results of the first year of implementation (Dec 07 – Dec 08)

Design and dissemination of awareness raising materials on Break Gender Stereotypes, Give Talent a Chance, translated into 14 EU languages and produced either in print or electronic format.
Materials include:

  • Poster, flyers, press releases;
  • A website www.businessandgender.eu
  • Five short videos documenting good practice in SMEs in DVD format

Fifteen Reviews of gender-based occupational segregation and stereotypes in the 15 countries, prepared to ensure relevance of all tools at country level.

Break Gender Stereotypes, Give Talent a Chance. Toolkit for SME advisors and HR managers (print and CD-Rom), offering tools and a training curriculum for “tapping the potential of all employees” in 14 EU languages.

Thirty-six awareness-raising workshops in 15 countries for some 735 SME relays, business owners and other stakeholders.

Final Conference on the occasion of which experiences, lessons learned and good practices were discussed

10 participating Chambers and 5 business organisations with experience and stronger capacity and tools to promote the “business case for gender equality “
